These ammonites are pyritized, meaning that the organic matter was replaced by pyrite, aka fools gold during the fossilization process. Very flashy and metallic with good contrast. Ammonites are extinct sea animals which had shells that were coiled in a flat spiral. They are in the cephalopod family and first appeared approximately 570 million years ago. These are sweet little fossil treasures! A great size for jewelers to incorporate into pendant designs or a must have for young collectors.
